Keyless Hotel Door Locks: Card Operation

Guest Card Operation

Guest cards are issued on the basis of a room number or numbers, with a start date and time plus a finish date and time. When a guest checks in a card is issued which will open their room for their intended length of stay. Should the guest lose their card or leave early, new cards issued will prevent any existing cards from working, even if the date is still current. Extended check-out times can either be preprogrammed, or entered individually.

Multiple Room Guest Cards

There are occasions where more than one room number is required on an individual's card, so up to ten guest room numbers can be programmed onto one guest card. Suites of rooms can be preprogrammed into the system to save the front desk staff valuable time, however if any of these rooms can be sold separately then individual guest cards can also be issued.

Family Guest Cards

If a family is staying in multiple rooms then guest cards can be issued to the parents which allow them access to all the allocated rooms, but with the option that the children's cards only give them access to their own rooms.

Special Room Guest Cards

Why stop at guest rooms? Additional areas and rooms can also be added. For example, if the guest is on an executive floor then access to any areas connected with this can automatically be added upon check-in. If the guest is hiring a conference or meeting room then timed access can be added to the card whilst checking in (Access time to the rooms can also be controlled by the system). The health club, pool, conference facilities or even off-site buildings can be controlled with the same simple and flexible programming.

Administration: Master Keying

Installing a lock for a single user is a simple task. Installing large numbers of locks and then assigning (and keep track of) keys that give authorized users access to specific areas can be very time consuming. Failure to keep track of keys and cards can cause errors ranging from embarrassing to dangerous. We're working to change this. We want to eliminate the need for employees and staff to juggle a large number of keys and cards and the goal of our equipment is to simplify this situation so that one key card can replace a whole sack of metal keys, magnetic swipe cards, and proximity cards.

Our locks are designed to work with master and sub-master cards as well as individual cards. Master cards are fairly straightforward to understand - they grant access to every lock on the list. Sub-master cards are a little more specific and can be programmed to work only at certain times or days or to match specific shift times and security patterns.

Authorization

It is of little benefit having intelligent electronic card locks on your doors if you cannot control who is issuing the cards to open them. Each hotel operates slightly differently and our systems are designed to accommodate varying needs. When defining a user for the system, you decide what that person is allowed to do. Once the individuals levels of authority have been programmed, they can log into the software using their authorization card and password. All cards that they subsequently issue are recorded and this information is easily retrievable.

Audit Trail

Having a complete audit trail is very important for security. Each card generated by our system has its own identity. When a card is used the time and date are stored. The number of records can be programmed for each group of cards up to 300 operations. With the proper use of consitent backup operations a card trail can be stored indefinitely. This allows forensic operations in the event of a problem or an incident needs research. Who opened that door? What time? Security can be further enhanced by using security video records.
